26ᵗʰ January, 2022 Sahakar Bharati shares the anguish of PMC Bank Depositors Sahakar Bharati has expressed its deep concern about the PMC Bank depositors who have been cheated and are now left high & dry. Sahakar Bharati has issued a Press Statement signed by National Secretary Dr Uday Joshi. PMC Bank failure is not like a failure of other Banks. It is the result of the failure of Auditors and Inspecting Officers who failed to detect the fraud being perpetrated for a long time, the statement says. Saha Bharati requests FM Nirmala Sitharaman to intervene in PMC Bank Amalgamation

Citing the unbelievable hardships faced by the Depositors of the PMC Bank in past years and more, Sahakar Bharati has requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to intervene in the PMC Bank Amalgamation to improve the Scheme of Amalgamation. In a letter sent to the Finance Minister on 3rd January 2022, the Sahakar Bharati states that unfortunately, the fraud which was going on for over 5 years remained undetected till it was brought to the notice of RBI by an employee of the PMC Bank. The fraudsters have cheated the Depositors. Hence, an Out of Box Solution is necessary to mitigate the hardships of thousands of Depositors. Lauding the step of RBI to grant "In-principle" approval to Centrum Financial Services Limited to set up a Small Finance Bank, Sahakar Bharati has thanked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman and the Apex Bank for this timely decision which raises hopes of hapless depositors of PMC Bank. Extend the term of the EC for UCBs by 2 months: Sahakar Bharati to RBI

Sahakar Bharati has urged RBI to extend the date of submission of the views of stakeholders of the CoOperative sector before the newly constituted Expert Committee for the UCBs. In a statement released by Sahakar Bharati on 12 May 2021, thanking RBI for constituting Expert Committee on UCBs, Sahakar Bharati asserts that the EC will examine the issues and provide a Roadmap for strengthening the Urban Banking Sector.
